INDIA 2018

Our history with India -State. Gujarat- Ahmedabad City- began in 2009, when Oscar Muñoz gets an invitation and with great effort attends that great gathering of international and local kite-makers, which takes place within the framework of the Uttarayan national festival.

The International Kite Festival (Uttarayan) is considered one of the biggest festivals held. Months before the festival, houses in Gujarat begin to make kites for the festival. The Uttarayan festival marks the day when winter begins to turn into summer, according to the Indian calendar. For farmers, it is a sign that the sun has returned and that the harvest season is approaching and is called Makara Sankranti. This day is considered one of the most important harvest days in India. Many cities in Gujarat organize kite competitions among their citizens, where all people compete with each other. In this region of Gujarat and in many other states, Uttarayan is such a big celebration that it has become a holiday in India for two days. Days before the festival, the market is full of participants who buy their supplies. In 2012, the Gujarat Tourism Corporation mentioned that the International Kite Festival in Gujarat was trying to enter the Guinness World Records Book due to the participation of 42 countries in that year. "This year 2018 there were 44 guests"
That first meeting was the beginning of an adventure, which as far as possible we have continued to attend, opportunity after opportunity have been achieved more quotas for our country, in 2010 and 2011 we extended the participation to three guests and obtained important recognitions to Colombian kites (second place kite innovation, first place kite painted by hand, among others). Another aspect to highlight is the Colombian idiosyncrasy framed with the commitment of collaboration, brotherhood and willingness to share with other people.
All this contributes to the evolution of the guild of kites in Colombia and India, the latter saw with great surprise, clubs and groups of new kites that use different kites to patang or fighter. The information comes and goes, India grows in other modalities; Inflatable kites, rotors and acrobatic kites.
This year 2018 we were 10 representatives who came from different areas, Bogota, Cartagena and Medellin which attended with beautiful works to delight their own and foreigners.
At the end of this festival we witness the flight of figther kites on the roofs of the old city, this is the closing of the festivities, dances, music, food and watching the sunset at this party around the kites makes the experience wonderful.
This festival has evolved, continue the efforts to reach the Guinness World Record, its people are very hospitable and the logistics of the event takes great care that we are all comfortable as well as knowing new cities.
We appreciate your warmth, simplicity and humility. We have acquired good Indian and foreign friends (delegations from other nations) in that country and we feel them as a family, we bring them very close to our hearts.
For us it is gratifying that India has given us this opportunity to have one of the largest invited delegations, that makes us think that since that first time we have played a good role and trust in our creations and great commitment.
The doors are open to this festival so we can continue making history!
Thanks to all the companions of this adventure India 2018
